Without much fanfare, Samsung has announced its newest tablet, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite. As the name implies, this is another in the company’s line of budget-friendly devices, but the name is our only clue. Samsung did not share a critical detail.

It’s clear that “Lite” suggests a lower price, but Samsung has previously been using the “FE” branding for budget devices. So, without the price, we’re not actually sure where it will fall in the lineup. The Galaxy Tab S10 FE starts at $500—does “Lite” imply slightly lower or slightly higher than that? I would guess it’s probably a bit lower, maybe around $350. It’s very strange that Samsung is leaving out such an important detail.

Regardless, let’s talk about the details Samsung did decide to share. The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite has a 10.9-inch TFT LCD display, is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1380 processor and an 8,000mAh battery, has either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and is available with 128GB or 256GB of storage. This all comes inside a thin 6.6mm body, and it includes an S Pen in the box. As you would expect, it has similar software features as its pricier siblings, including Circle to Search and a dedicated “Galaxy AI” key on the keyboard cover. We do not, however, know how long it will be supported.

The tablet is set to go on sale on September 4 in Gray, Silver, and Coralred. Samsung is not taking pre-orders for the tablet (though you can sign up to be notified), which is also a bit odd. Price is obviously always a very important detail for any device, but when it comes to ones with “Lite” in the name, it’s usually the top-selling point. Very strange to keep that a secret with the launch less than two weeks away.
