Gmail Is Making It Easier to Track Packages and Find Deals

Navigating an email inbox isn’t fun, and Google is constantly trying to improve how that works in Gmail. The latest updates will make it easier to find and track all your purchases, as well as find good deals among the piles of clutter.

If you’re anything like me, your most common search term in Gmail is “Fedex” or “UPS.” Whenever I’ve made an online purchase and I know it’s on the way, I’m always scrolling through my inbox trying to find the order email and pulling up the tracking page. Google is making that process a bit easier with a new “Purchases” tab.

This is a new view inside Gmail that gives you a one-stop shop for all your upcoming deliveries. The tab gathers all your purchase-related emails and puts them all in one place, and your upcoming deliveries are right at the top. It’s an easier way to see what you’ve bought, when it’s coming, and more, which is about to be even more useful as we approach the Holiday season.

Google is also making some updates to an existing category. If you’ve ever feel like the “Promotions” category is just a mess of random spam, Google is hoping to fix that, too. The updated Promotions tab should be more “personalized and engaging,” which essentially just means Google is going to use the same philosophy as targeted ads to put emails in front of you with deals it thinks you’ll like.

These updates will be rolling out soon to Gmail on a variety of platforms.
