I had a blast reviewing this RTX 5080 OLED gaming laptop, and now you can get one for $700 off

As the weather cools down the laptop sales are heating up, and while the best prices are probably going to come during Black Friday I’ve started to see some incredible deals cropping up at retailers like Best Buy and B&H.

Here’s a great example: The RTX 5080-equipped Lenovo Legion Pro 7i is $2,799 at B&H right now, which is a whopping $700 off the usual price.

So while this beefy portable PC gaming powerhouse is still pricey, you’re saving enough money on one to buy yourself a fat stack of the best Steam games you don’t already own and still have cash left over.

This is effectively the exact same model Lenovo sent me for review a few months ago, and I loved my time with it because the RTX 5080 GPU, Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and 32GB of RAM make this thing basically a portable gaming PC. And by that I mean, I was able to plug it into my 65-inch 4K OLED TV and play games like Cyberpunk 2077 at great framerates (60+ frames per second) in 4K with all the graphical settings cranked to max.

That’s why I wrote in my Lenovo Legion Pro 7i review that using this laptop was the most fun I’ve ever had reviewing a PC—right now the overwhelming power packed inside this backpack-sized beast is more than enough to play basically all of the best PC games ever made, and they look amazing on the HDR-capable 16-inch (2560 x 1600) 240Hz OLED display.

But if this model doesn’t do it for you, good news: Lenovo is currently running heavy discounts on every model of this laptop, including the cheaper RTX 5070 Ti version and the top-of-the-line RTX 5090 model. So if you can’t afford to drop over $3,000 on a gaming laptop this week but still want to get in on this deal, there’s basically an RTX 5070 Ti version of this laptop that’s nearly as good as the RTX 5080 model for roughly $600 less.

And of course, the discount goes all the way up to the top dog in the Legion Pro 7i food chain, the RTX 5090 model. This beast usually costs roughly $4,000 and comes kitted out with the best-in-class Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU, but right now you can get one for $600 off.

That’s still a big chunk of change, to be sure, but if you’ve been considering an RTX 5090 gaming laptop you’d have a hard time doing better than this one—at least, until the Black Friday doorbusters start showing up in a few months.

But if you need a great laptop right now, I highly recommend the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. I loved my time with our review unit and found it easy to be productive on thanks to the comfortable full keyboard, plentiful port array (you get HDMI 2.1, USB-C, USB-A and RJ-45 Ethernet) and big screen with wide viewing angles.

Now, this thing will weigh down your backpack since it’s roughly six pounds heavy, and don’t expect great battery life—like most gaming laptops, it lasts a couple hours surfing the web or an hour or two while gaming unplugged, so carry a charger when you’re on the go. You might be able to eke out a full workday if you’re very stingy with power and brightness, but in our battery tests this thing only lasted four and a half hours while working and an hour and a half while gaming on battery.

But in my experience a good gaming laptop stays on your desk or coffee table most of the time, so if that’s how you’re planning to use yours I highly recommend the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i—especially at this price, one of the lowest I’ve ever seen.
