DirecTV Will Give You ESPN’s New Streaming Service for Free

Earlier this year, ESPN announced a new all-access streaming service to deliver endless sports content to fans. Today, we learned that it’ll be included free with several DirecTV bundles. Yes, DirecTV is dishing out free access to ESPN Unlimited in its MySports bundle and other goodies for select customers.

In an announcement this week, DirecTV called this “The Great Rebundling,” as it’ll be handing out access to ESPN’s upcoming service to its millions of customers, alongside Disney+ and Hulu. We weren’t sure what to expect now that DirecTV has a new owner, but this is certainly good news.

When ESPN’s all-access “Unlimited” plan arrives this fall, all DirecTV Streaming and MySports subscribers will automatically be given access. To be more specific, you’ll get access to all main programming, like ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNews, and ESPN Deportes, along with content from ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX. If you’re a fan of the NFL, NCAA Football, or any other sports offered by ESPN, you’ll love this news.

In case you weren’t aware, ESPN plans to charge around $29.99 monthly for the service. Additionally, DirecTV Satellite and U-Verse customers can expect the same treatment, although it’ll arrive a little bit later in the fall. What this means is DirecTV customers with select bundles, like the MySports bundle, will get access to everything ESPN’s new service has to offer, with no extra charge.

The company said in a statement, “DIRECTV continues to make it simple for customers to access all their content in a seamless personalized experience without having to search across multiple apps. With unmatched choice and flexibility, our customers can control their entertainment and pay only for the programming they value.” — Vince Torres, Chief Marketing Officer at DirecTV.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, the company further explained that DirecTV streaming customers with a Gemini device (signature package subscribers) will get ESPN Unlimited and access to Disney+ and Hulu’s basic bundle at no extra charge.

All the Streaming Services You’ll Need to Watch the NFL This Year

You’ll need 10 different channels or streaming services for the 2025 season.

From the sounds of it, DirecTV wants to be your one-stop shop for all things live sports, movies, and TV without switching between apps and having multiple different subscriptions. I don’t know about you guys, but with all the endless streaming services these days, I almost wish old-school cable would make a comeback.

Between offering all of its core packages, cheaper plans for under $50, and genre packs for kids, DirecTV has something for everyone. I’m interested in seeing if YouTube TV, Sling, and other similar services offer something similar regarding ESPN’s new plan. We’ll have to wait and see.
