The Z Fold7 finally feels like Samsung has nailed the folding formula thanks to a much thinner design than ever and a flagship-worthy 200MP main camera. It would be nice to have more optical zoom though, and if the price could come down a bit.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is far more than an iterative update, it’s Samsung’s arrival at the top of the folding phone game. The new proportions and slim design are a skilful balance that feels just right, while the main camera’s upgrade can deliver S25 Ultra-beating results. There’s no S Pen stylus support, which may be unforgivable for some upgraders, however, this Galaxy is a flagship with the benefits of a foldable design – and little compromise.

With a refined and appealing design, plenty of power, smarter AI, smoother multitasking, and improved cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the best folding phone you can buy, bar none.

Even if ‘Ultra’ isn’t in the name, Samsung didn’t hold back this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 sets the new standard for foldable phones. It’s one of the most fun smartphones I’ve tested, and Google is going to have a hard time beating this one next month.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 delivers on the dream of a book-style foldable that’s feels no different from a bar phone when closed, but it’s not cheap.

With an incredibly slim and lightweight design, better cameras and a faster chip inside, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is probably the best foldable phone you can buy right now. However, it’s not perfect; sustained gaming performance could be better, and the battery and charging speeds aren’t anything to shout about. With more foldable launches on the horizon, it remains to be seen how long the Z Fold 7 can stay on top.

If the Galaxy S25 Ultra was the definition of cautious and iterative design, the Z Fold 7 represents a bold but thoughtful revamp. Samsung has brought its top-tier foldable up to the level of other challengers, and possibly beyond. And while I’m not a fan of the camera bump or lack of S Pen support, I generally support Samsung’s choices—it’s better to make wise but polarizing decisions than to compromise the overall result.

Hands on: A slimmer, lighter design with bigger screens and better cameras. Oh yes

Hands on: But even with the loss of stylus integration, from what I’ve seen so far, the Z Fold 7 is a major upgrade over the three previous models. Samsung has finally made a big flagship foldable that won’t weigh you down compared to an equivalent glass brick like the S25 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has reached foldable phone nirvana thanks to major reductions in its size and thickness. Though at $2,000, it remains extremely expensive.
