The year 2025 hasn’t even ended, and OnePlus has already been hard at work teasing what’s going to be its next phone, the OnePlus 15. Now, it’s launching in China, with lots of surprises.

OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, in its home market of China. And it’s packed with improvements, as well as some regressions. The most notable internal upgrade is the adoption of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s new high-end mobile chipset. The device’s storage has received an upgrade from UFS 4.0 to UFS 4.1, a newer standard that offers improved read and write speeds and means we should have more stable and faster storage on this phone.

OnePlus has equipped the new model with a massive 7,300 mAh battery, one of the largest capacities seen in a mainstream flagship phone. We already knew this, but it’s still a big deal, and I hope it’s something that eventually comes to smartphones in the US—the OnePlus 15 should, in theory, launch in the US, but we’ll have to see whether it has the same specs. The device supports 120W wired charging for rapid top-ups and 50W wireless charging.

Another huge takeaway is the fact that this phone has an IP69K certification. It is important because it represents the highest level of protection against both dust and water currently available for a consumer electronic device. We typically see IP67 or IP68, which is good, but this is the absolute highest certification a phone can get.

It means this phone is designed to survive much more aggressive scenarios than what an IP68 phone would withstand—think of stuff like being rinsed off under a high-pressure kitchen faucet to clean it, or spilling a fresh, hot cup of coffee or tea directly on it. IP68 has been the gold standard for years, and I hope this eventually catches on as OnePlus goes the extra mile.

Other additions include a triple-camera array headlined by a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 24 mm equivalent focal length, and optical image stabilization (OIS). It is joined by a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, also with OIS, which provides a 3.5x optical zoom (80 mm equivalent) and an f/2.8 aperture. An updated 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera offers a 116° field of view and a bright f/2.0 aperture. The front-facing camera features a 32-megapixel sensor. No Hasselblad branding, but instead, this has OnePlus’ in-house “Lumo” engine—this is ultimately just branding so it doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things, but it’s still worth noting.

The phone is built around a 6.78-inch flat AMOLED display. The panel features a 2,772 x 1,272 pixel resolution and an adaptive 1-120 Hz refresh rate, which can reportedly boost to 165 Hz in specific scenarios, such as gaming.

The phone starts at CNY 3,999, which is roughly $563. It’s an amazing price for the package you’re getting, and I hope it’s this cheap in other countries as well.
